Dante Dettamanti Dies in Bicycle Crash on Canada Road near Highway 92

 
PALO ALTO, CA (October 31, 2022) Dante Dettamanti died in a bicycle accident on Canada Road near Highway 92 on Tuesday.
 
According to law enforcement officials, a retired Stanford University water polo coach died around 4:00 p.m. after crashing his bicycle. For unknown reasons, 80-year-old Dante Dettamanti struck a San Mateo County Public Works Department street sweeper parked on the right shoulder.
 
Due to his injuries, he died later on at the scene.
 
Dettamanti who spent 25 years coaching at Stanford, leading the university’s water polo team, was one of five head coaches to win at least eight championships.
