1 Dead, 2 Hurt, Car and Big Rig Accident on 101 Freeway in Woodland Hills

 
WOODLAND HILLS, CA (October 20, 2022) — One person died, and two were injured after a car and a big rig crashed on the 101 Freeway near Shoup Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle collision happened around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday. For unknown reasons, a driver in an SUV struck a big rig on the northbound freeway. The car veered right and went down an embankment, trapping three people beneath the vehicle.
 
Responding Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters freed the victims. However, one of them, described as a driver, died at the scene.
 
Medics rushed two patients to nearby hospitals for care.
 
Commuters faced hours-long traffic due to the debris from the crash. It is unclear what led to it. However, if anyone has more to add to this accident, please call the CHP.
