Karina Hernandez Melchor Struck, Killed by Vehicle in South Los Angeles
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (September 28, 2022) – Authorities identified 35-year-old Karina Hernandez Melchor of Los Angeles as the pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle on South San Pedro Street, Monday evening.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened on September 26, at about 10:15 p.m. Melchor reportedly attempted to cross in a marked crosswalk when a southbound vehicle hit her near East 106th Street.
Emergency crews pronounced Melchor dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle remained and cooperated with investigators. Authorities did not release the name of the 20-year-old driver.
LAPD continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
