Motorcyclist Nicholas Cooper Dies after Crash with SUV on Highway 150 near Lake Casitas

 
VENTURA, CA (August 21, 2022) – Nicholas Ryan Cooper was killed in a motorcycle accident in Ventura on Tuesday afternoon, August 16.
 
The accident happened around 2:35 p.m. on Highway 150, also known as Casitas Pass, just west of Lake Casitas. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 38-year-old victim from Santa Barbara was riding his 2012 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle eastbound when he crossed over solid double-yellow lines.
 
Cooper then veered into oncoming 2022 Mazda CX-9 SUV as he approached a turn west of Rameli Ranch. The vehicles collided, causing Cooper significant injuries.
 
A helicopter took Cooper to Ventura County Medical Center, where he later died.
 
The driver of the SUV, a 30-year-old Carpinteria woman, sustained cuts to her feet.
 
At this time, it is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
