Wrong-Way Accident on Highway 29 in Napa Leaves Passenger Dead
NAPA, CA (July 30, 2022) – Amanda Peters died in a wrong-way accident in south Napa on Saturday evening, July 23.
The accident happened around 10:10 p.m. on Highway 29, just south of Imola Avenue. According to the CHP, Peters was a passenger in a 1998 Cadillac that went the wrong way down the northbound lanes of the highway. The car then struck an oncoming Toyota and then a Tesla.
As a result of the crash, Peters suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed her to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center, where she later died. She was a 21-year-old Boyes Hot Springs resident, according to the Napa County Coroner’s Office.
The Cadillac driver, 20-year-old Susan Burnham Jevarian of San Francisco, was thrown from the car and suffered moderate injuries.
A 56-year-old Napa man driving the Toyota was hospitalized at the Queen with minor injuries.
Three people in the Tesla also sustained minor injuries but were not taken to the hospital.
Police later arrested Jevarian and booked her at the Napa County jail on a felony DUI.
An investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
