Four Killed, Six Injured in Head-On Crash on Highway 12 near Summerset Drive [Rio Vista, CA]

Fatal Head-On Crash Reported on Highway 12 near Summerset Drive in Rio Vista

 
RIO VISTA, CA (July 29, 2022) – Police confirmed that four people died in a head-on crash on Highway 12 on July 27.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Summerset Drive shortly after 8:00 PM.
 
Based on reports, a 2003 Honda Accord sedan was traveling westbound on the highway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, it veered into the eastbound lane and crashed head-on into a 2015 Chevy Suburban SUV.
 
As a result, the driver of the Honda, a 20-year-old Rancho Cordova man, and his two passengers died in the incident. A fourth victim also died in the crash. In addition, paramedics rushed six patients in the SUV, including two minors, to nearby hospitals for treatment of injuries.
 
Rio Vista police did not yet made a DUI determination, but officers found a significant number of alcoholic beverage containers in and around the Honda.
 
At this point, an investigation is ongoing. Also, other details are not yet clear at this time.
