Santana Yanez Arrested after Fatal Car Crash on Jersey Avenue and 17th Avenue

 
LEMOORE, CA (July 4, 2022) — Officials arrested 26-year-old Santana Yanez of Lemoore after a fatal car accident on Friday, July 1.
 
Just before midnight Friday, officers received a call about a crash near Jersey Avenue and 17th Avenue. According to investigators, Yanez drove eastbound on Jersey at a high rate of speed. At the same time, the driver of a Nissan minivan pulled out of the parking lot of the Tachi Palace Casino Resort.
 
Officers said the 63-year-old man driving the minivan entered the roadway in a northern direction. Then into the path of Yanez’s Toyota. Yanez was unable to stop and crashed into the minivan.
 
The impact killed both the minivan’s driver and his 52-year-old male passenger. Their identities are not immediately available. However, reports said they are both from Fresno.
 
Officers determined that Yanez was driving under the influence of alcohol and they arrested him. Additionally, they said he suffered injuries and medics airlifted him to a local area hospital.
 
The California Highway Patrol handles the ongoing investigation of the fatal incident.
