High-Speed Crash in Midway District Kills Two People

 
MIDWAY DISTRICT, CA (May 12, 2022) – Ahmed Mazin Salah Alrawi and Suad Alsamari died in a high-speed crash in Midway District on Saturday evening.
 
The accident happened just after 9:00 p.m. on May 7 at Rosecrans Street and Sports Arena Boulevard. According to the San Diego Police Department, Alrawi and Alsamari were in their family’s Toyota Sienna that was stopped at the intersection for a red light.
 
That was when a Toyota Tacoma traveling at a high rate of speed drove over a raised gore point and struck a raised median.
 
Adter striking hitting the median, the Tacoma went airborne and hit the Sienna. The violent impact crushed parts of both vehicles.
 
Alrawi, 23 years old from San Diego, and Alsamari, an 81-year-old El Cajon resident, both died died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, two other passengers from the van sustained unspecified injuries. The driver of the truck had broken bones and several other injuries.
