Pedestrian Causes Semi-Truck Accident on 91 Freeway in Bellflower

BELLFLOWER, CA (May 9, 2022) — A pedestrian caused a big rig to crash on the 91 Freeway near Bellflower Boulevard on Friday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the multi-vehicle accident happened around noon. For unknown reasons, a man was waving vehicle debris at passing cars on the 91 Freeway. At some point, a driver of a big rig tried to swerve around the pedestrian, which caused the semi-truck to crash into at least one car.

During the multi-vehicle collision, the big rig’s gasoline tank punctured and caused a diesel fuel spillage, which beckoned a HazMat team crew to respond to the scene shortly thereafter.

It took several hours for authorities to clear the area. At this time, reports did not clarify whether police contacted the pedestrian involved in this incident or if anyone reported an injury.

However, if witnesses have more information, please contact the Bellflower police department.
