Suspected Hit-and-Run Driver Dead after Car Crashes into Tree on Reche Road in Fallbrook

 
FALLBROOK, CA (March 18, 2022) – A driver was killed after his car crashed into a tree on Reche Road, late Monday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on March 14 at about 10:50 p.m. A Chevrolet Tahoe reportedly slammed into the rear of a disabled Chevrolet 3500 on East Fallbrook Street.
 
Then, the Chevrolet fled the area. A short time later, the SUV veered from the roadway and slammed into a tree on Reche Road near Live Oak Park Road South and Green Canyon Road.
 
The impact of the crash caused a small vegetation fire.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the SUV driver dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
