Lanes Closed after Motorcycle Accident on Highway 178 near Kern Canyon Road in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 11, 2022) – At least one person sustained injuries in a motorcycle accident on Highway 178, Wednesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on March 9 at about 10:40 a.m. Due to unknown circumstances, a motorcycle and a vehicle collided in the westbound lanes of Highway 178 at Kern River Canyon.
 
Responding officers temporarily closed affected lanes to make way for an emergency helicopter. The total number of injured victims and the extent of the injuries remain unknown.
 
As per reports, responders reopened the lanes at about 1:00 p.m.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
