Tracks Closed after Pedestrian Struck by Train near San Bernardino Depot in El Monte

 
EL MONTE, CA (February 10, 2022) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metrolink train near San Bernardino Depot, early Thursday evening.
 
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened on January 27 at about 5:54 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, eastbound train 382 hit the pedestrian.
 
Emergency crews later pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
As per reports, none of the 120 passengers sustained injuries in the accident.
 
Responders temporarily closed railroad tracks until 10:29 p.m., delaying at least four other trains.
 
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
