Rosa De Sousa Fatally Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident on Winton Way and Fay Drive

 
ATWATER, CA (January 21, 2022) — A woman identified as Rosa De Sousa died in a hit-and-run accident before 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19.
 
According to Atwater Police, De Sousa was crossing the street at Winton Way and Fay Drive when a white Ford pickup truck moving north on Winton struck her. The driver did not stop and fled from the scene.
 
The impact sent De Sousa into southbound lanes of roadway, where another vehicle hit her.
 
Officers conducted life-saving measures to save De Sousa. However, she still succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene.
