One Dead, Two Injured in Traffic Accident on River Road [Newman, CA]

One Killed, Deputy and Another Hurt in Traffic Crash on River Road and Villa Manucha Road

 
NEWMAN, CA (January 10, 2022) — One person died following a traffic accident on River Road in Newman on Sunday, January 9.
 
According to Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, the collision took place on River Road and Villa Manucha.
 
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found one law enforcement personnel with injuries that required surgery.
 
The passenger of the vehicle involved suffered major injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the same vehicle died at the scene of the incident.
 
Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased.
 
There are no reports if alcohol, drugs, or speed played a role in the crash.
 
The California Highway Patrol handles the ongoing investigation of the traffic incident.
