RIALTO, CA (January 3, 2022) — Edwin Herrera sustained an injury after a train struck his car on Lilac Avenue near Rialto Avenue on Saturday.
 
According to the Rialto Police Department, the incident happened around 2:06 p.m. For unknown reasons, 30-year-old Herrera drove into the opposite lane to navigate around the crossing arms, which were down. As a result, an oncoming train, occupied by the train’s engineer, struck Herrera’s vehicle.
 
Shortly after, paramedics responded and brought the Rialto man to a hospital with unknown injuries. Meanwhile, the sole occupant of the train, the engineer, escaped injury.
