Pedestrian Joan Alameda Hit, Killed by Car in Watsonville

 
WATSONVILLE, CA (December 8, 2021) – Police confirmed that a woman died in a pedestrian accident in Watsonville on December 3.
 
The Santa Cruz County Coroner identified the victim as 61-year-old Joan Alameda of Watsonville.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford F-250 struck Alameda in the crosswalk at Rodriguez Street and Beach Street around 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
 
Police pronounced Alameda dead at the scene.
 
The area was temporarily closed and reopened around 9:00 p.m.
 
The driver of the truck was cooperating with the investigation. At this time, police did not charge the driver.
 
At this point, the Watsonville Police Department is still investigating the cause of the collision. However, no other details are available.
