Alden Richards Jr. Dies after Struck by Car in South LA

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (December 8, 2021) – A man was hit and killed by a vehicle at Flower Street and Adams Boulevard on Friday morning.
 
44-year-old Alden Richards Jr. – whose city of residence was unknown – died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:00 a.m. on December 3 near the 110 Freeway about five blocks from the USC campus. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Richards Jr. was struck while standing at a bus stop.
 
The vehicle, containing at least two occupants, then crashed into a nearby electrical pole.
 
Paramedics pronounced Richards dead at the scene. It was not immediately known if anyone else was injured in the collision.
 
Officers detained the driver of the vehicle. The driver may have been driving while impaired, but it is unclear if police made an arrest.
 
An LAPD official told CBSLA that investigators will be reviewing nearby L.A. County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) cameras for possible video footage of the crash.
