Driver Killed in Accident on Otay Mesa Road [San Diego, CA]

Driver Fatally Injured in Traffic Crash on Otay Mesa Road near Highway 125

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 22, 2021) — A motorist died in a fatal accident on Otay Mesa Road on Wednesday, October 20.
 
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened just after 8 a.m. in the 9400 block of Otay Mesa Road.
 
A driver moving westbound tried to make a U-turn from the right-hand lane of the two-lane street. The driver did not realize that a vehicle moved in the same direction behind him in the other lane.
 
The victim died at the scene, SDPD Officer Sarah Foster said. Officials withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of his loved ones.
 
There are no other injuries reported.
 
It was unclear who was at fault for the incident. Officials continue to investigate.
