Passenger Dies in Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 49 in Nevada County

 
NEVADA COUNTY, CA (September 27, 2021) – A man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 49 in Nevada County Sunday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 12:40 p.m. on September 26, at the intersection with Rincon Way. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Honda Accord southbound when it crossed over double yellow lines. It then collided head-on into a Volkswagen SUV that was traveling northbound.
 
As a result, the male passenger in the Volkswagen suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The female driver sutained moderate injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the man driving the Accord had minor to moderate injuries.
 
Crews closed the roadway near the crash site for over two hours while they cleaned up debris.
 
Drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in this crash, which remains under investigation.
