Man Dies, Firefighter Hurt in South Los Angeles Building Fire on 60th Street

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (August 19, 2021) — A man died, and a firefighter sustained injuries in a building fire on 60th Street near Central Avenue Monday.
 
According to reports, the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. in the Florence neighborhood. For unknown reasons, a fire ruptured in what reports say was a metal furnishings manufacturing firm.
 
In the investigation, authorities learned that an unidentified man ran into the building during the fire and was later found by firefighters. Firefighters pronounced him dead after finding his remains.
 
While trying to extinguish the blaze, a firefighter fell four feet from a ladder and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
 
It is unclear what started the fire that drew 100 firefighters to the one-story metal-clad building. However, if anyone has more information on this accident, please contact the Los Angeles Police.
