Farm Worker Dies after Hit by Truck on Carlson Road near O’Banion Road

 
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (August 19, 2021) – Sergio Garcia Ochoa fatally struck a farm worker in Sutter County Wednesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 7:45 a.m. on August 18, just north of O’Banion Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 35-year-old Gridley man was working on a peach tree shaker while the worker was standing between the work truck and trailer talking to another worker.
 
Garcia Ochoa finished working on the equipment and got into his 2009 Ford F550 and began to drive away. Another worker told him to stop driving and when he got out of his truck, he saw that he had hit one of the workers that had been standing between his truck and trailer.
 
The worker suffered blunt force trauma and died at the scene. Authorities only identified him as a 24-year-old Yuba City man.
 
No arrests were made at this time, but the incident is under investigation.
