Caltrans Worker Dies in Ontario DUI Crash on 15 Freeway

ONTARIO, CA (August 2, 2021) — A Caltrans worker was killed in a DUI accident on the 15 Freeway near Archibald Avenue Friday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 11:00 p.m. For DUI-related reasons, a driver in a Toyota sedan veered into a line of orange cones. Subsequently, the Toyota entered an area where Caltrans workers were conducting maintenance in the No. 4 and 5 lanes.

As a result, the Toyota struck one of the workers, who later died at Pomona Valley Hospital due to severe injuries. Following the accident, the driver tried to leave the scene, but Good Samaritans held the driver back.

In the investigation, officers confirmed that DUI played a role in the accident. At this time, the crash remains under investigation. However, if anyone has more information on this crash, please contact the CHP.
