Man Inside Stalled Car Dies after Rear-Ended by SUV on 60 Freeway in Diamond Bar

 
DIAMOND BAR, CA (August 2, 2021)Andrew Coronado died in a rear-end accident on 60 Freeway in Diamond Bar early Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened around 3:00 a.m. on July 31, just east of Grand Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 20-year-old man was inside a stalled Honda Accord, while two other men were outside the car.
 
Moments later, a 2019 Nissan traveling at an unknown speed rear-ended the Honda in the carpool lane, killing Coronado inside the car.
 
The driver of the Honda, a 21-year-old man from La Puente, suffered major injuries and another passenger, a 20-year-old man from Los Angeles, suffered moderate injuries. Paramedics rushed them to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for treatment. They were just outside the Honda at the time of the crash, authorities said.
 
The driver of the Armada, a 44-year-old Moreno Valley man, suffered major injuries and was also hospitalized.
 
This fatal crash is under investigation. The CHP’s Baldwin Park area office urged witnesses to call them at 626-338-1164.
