Police Identified Joshua Macut in Fatal Semi-Truck Accident in Wasco

 
[WASCO, CA (June 16, 2021) – A man died in a two-vehicle accident at Merced Avenue and Magnolia Avenue on June 7.
 
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man killed in the collision as 34-year-old Joshua Mark Macut.
 
The accident happened just after 12:00 p.m. on Monday. According to the California Highway Patrol, the semi-truck was heading southbound on Magnolia Avenue. Soon after, it stopped at a stop sign at the Merced Avenue intersection.
 
Macut was driving a 2015 Toyota eastbound on Merced Avenue west of Magnolia Avenue. However, he crashed into the truck as it proceeded into the intersection.
 
The department said Macut applied his brakes and turned to the left to try to avoid hitting the semi-truck. However, he ended up hitting the right side of it, causing fatal injuries.
 
The driver of the truck was unharmed. CHP officials are still trying to determine the factors involved the crash.
