Fatal Rollover Accident on Highway in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (May 10, 2021) – One person was killed and four others were injured in a rollover accident on Highway 101 in San Jose late Friday evening, May 7.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 10:00 p.m. just north of Capitol Expressway. A Toyota Prius was traveling northbound when it veered off the roadway for unknown reasons. It then overturned several times and hit a sound wall.
 
As a result, one of the passengers suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Paramedics took four other people to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
Authorities did not release the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
 
Some of the occupants were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, the CHP said.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. Further investigation is underway.
