Authorities Identify 72-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Del Mar Hit-and-Run

 
DEL MAR, CA (April 14, 2021) – Authorities identified the 72-year-old man who died in a hit-and-run Friday afternoon in Del Mar.
 
He was Johannes Reinhard Sack, the coroner’s office said.
 
Sack was crossing Del Mar Heights Road when an SUV struck him around 3:13 p.m. on April 9. Paramedics rushed him to an area hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.
 
The driver of the SUV did not stop after the crash. Police later identified the suspect as 50-year-old Raul Garcia. They arrested him on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
 
The crash remains under investigation by the San Diego Police Department.
