Coroner Identifies Bicyclist Killed in Indio Crash on Avenue 48 near Jefferson Street

 
INDIO, CA (March 31, 2021) – Authorities identified a bicyclist who died in an accident Sunday afternoon in Indio.
 
According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, 73-year-old William Mohan died at the scene.
 
The accident happened around 11:45 a.m. March 28 on Avenue 48, about a quarter-mile east of Jefferson Street. Mohan was riding his bicycle when a Chrysler sedan struck him. The impact caused him fatal injuries.
 
The driver of the sedan, only described as a man, pulled over and cooperated with investigators. Witnesses also were interviewed at the scene.
 
Officers closed down a portion of Avenue 48 in both directions for several hours while they worked on the scene.
 
The Indio Police Department is investigating the accident.
