One Person Dies in Rancho Santa Margarita DUI Crash on Highway 241

 
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA (March 29, 2021) — One person died in a DUI accident on Highway 241 near Windy Ridge Toll Plaza Friday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident involved two vehicles. For suspected DUI reasons, a driver in a Ford F-450 truck, traveling about 75 mph, struck a Ford van from behind. Per reports, the Ford van became disabled for unclear reasons.
 
As a result of the collision, a person in the van died after being ejected onto the highway. Meanwhile, paramedics transported another patient to Orange County Global Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
 
At this time, authorities say DUI remains a contributing factor in the accident. However, if anyone has further insight into this crash, please contact CHP.
