Fatal Pedestrian Accident Reported on Barton Lane in Sugarloaf

 
SUGARLOAF, CA (February 4, 2021) – Police confirmed that one person died in a pedestrian accident on Barton Lane on January 31.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Holmes Lane around 6:00 PM.
 
Based on a report, a 2004 Toyota Highlander was travelling westbound on Barton at an unknown speed prior to the crash. Subsequently, it struck three pedestrians who were walking westbound on the road.
 
As a result, a 30-year-old woman from Ontario died in the incident. Officials did not yet release their identities pending kin notification. In addition, a 22-year-old man from Henderson, Nevada, and a 29-year-old man from Long Beach sustained minor injuries.
 
The driver of the car, a Big Bear City resident, fled the scene but was later arrested. At this time, an investigation is ongoing. In addition, officials ask anyone with information about this pedestrian accident on Barton Road to contact the Arrowhead Area CHP office at 909-867-2791.
