1 Dies in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Niles Street

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 24, 2024) — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on Niles Street near Vale Street.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 11:00 p.m. Monday. Under unclear circumstances, a Kia occupied by two people struck a female pedestrian walking outside a marked crosswalk on Niles Street. Subsequently, the driver of the Kia stopped and waited for the authorities to arrive.
 
Soon after, paramedics arrived and quickly rushed the gravely injured woman to Kerm Medical where she passed away Tuesday around 2:30 a.m.
 
Neither the driver nor the passenger of the Kia reported any injuries in the accident, and police did not suspect impairment to have played a role.
