Pedestrian Dies in Accident on Monterey Road in San Jose

 
SAN JOSE, CA (April 29, 2024) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on Monterey Road near San Martin.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident happened early Tuesday near San Martin. For unknown reasons, a 56-year-old Gilroy man crossed from east to west in the lane of an oncoming Ford Windstar. Subsequently, the 55-year-old man driving the Ford struck the pedestrian.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene, but the victim passed away from his injuries. Officials have withheld his name pending notification of next of kin. Authorities do not suspect alcohol or drugs to have factored into the cause.
