Three Vehicles Fatally Struck Woman on Highway 162

 
BUTTE COUNTY, CA (September 6, 2023) — A woman lost her life in a pedestrian crash on Highway 162 on Tuesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim is a 37-year-old female from Oroville. The CHP has withheld her name pending family notification.
 
The crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 162 and Highway 99 in the Richvale area of Butte County, leading to the closure of Highway 162 between Highway 99 and Larkin Road. Initially, the CHP estimated that the road would remain closed until around 8:30 a.m.
 
The CHP reported that the woman was walking in the westbound lane just after 6 a.m. when she was struck by three vehicles. Two of them came to a stop at the scene. However, one driver in a white Hyundai fled, prompting an ongoing search by authorities.
