Wrong-Way Crash on Carpenter Road Overpass in Modesto Kills Hilmar Woman

 
MODESTO, CA (September 26, 2024) – A woman killed in a wrong-way accident on Carpenter Road overpass in Modesto Tuesday afternoon on September 19.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:30 p.m. just south of South 9th Street. According to the Modesto Police Department, the woman was driving a Nissan Rogue northbound in the left lane on Carpenter Road. At the same time, a Toyota Tacoma was traveling southbound in the same lane.
 
One of the vehicles was reportedly traveling the wrong way and they ultimately collided.
 
As a result of the crash, the woman driving the Nissan suffered major injuries and was rushed to a hospital.
 
Despite life-saving efforts at the hospital, the woman was declared dead. Authorities only identified her as a Hilmar resident.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
 
There is no evidence that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
