Three-Vehicle Accident on Highway 68 in Monterey Leaves One Passenger Dead

 
MONTEREY, CA (December 30, 2024) – A woman was killed in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 68 in Monterey Tuesday morning on December 24.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:10 a.m. just between Canyon Del Rey Boulevard and Ragsdale Drive. According to the Monterey Police Department, a white Dodge Nitro was going west on Highway 68 and was unable to stop in slowed traffic ahead. It then struck a white Lexus SUV.
 
After the initial crash, the Dodge continued into the eastbound lanes and hit a blue Honda Accord head-on.
 
As a result, one passenger in the Honda suffered severe injuries. Paramedics rushed her to Natividad Medical Center, where she later died.
 
Authorities only identified the deceased victim as a 22-year-old Berkeley resident.
 
The drivers of the Honda and Dodge, and another passenger of the Honda suffered major injuries.
 
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash. An investigation is underway.
