1 Dies in Fiery 2-Vehicle Collision near Excelsior Road in Mather

 
MATHER, CA (November 15, 2024) — A woman died in a fiery 2-car accident near Excelsior Road and Kiefer Boulevard.
 
According to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, the deadly two-vehicle crash happened around 8:48 a.m. Thursday.
 
Emergency Medical Services responded, finding two wrecked vehicles — a Tesla on fire and an overturned Ford Fusion. Firefighters extinguished the flames, but a woman inside the Tesla passed away from her injuries. Paramedics took a man in the overturned Ford Fusion to a hospital with either minor or major injuries.
 
According to an investigation, California Highway Patrol officers believe the female Tesla driver was attempting to pass multiple cars by using the opposing lane. Subsequently, the Tesla collided with the oncoming Ford Fusion, sending it onto its roof before the Tesla caught fire.
 
Now, authorities are investigating any outstanding details of this accident and have not released the fatal victim’s name.
