Passenger Dies after Two Vehicles Collide on Fred Waring Drive in Indio

 
INDIO, CA (February 17, 2025) – A woman was killed in a head-on accident on Fred Waring Drive in Indio Friday morning on February 14.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 6:00 a.m. at Avenue 44. According to the Indio Police Department, a 45-year-old man was driving a BMW sedan eastbound on Fred Waring Drive when he veered into oncoming traffic. He then collided head-on with a Nissan Sentra in the westbound lanes.
 
As a result of the crash, the female passenger of the sedan suffered significant injuries and died at the scene.
 
Authorities withheld the identity of the deceased victim pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed both drivers to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with major injuries.

The BMW driver is now in stable condition. The driver of the Nissan, a 37-year-old woman, is in critical condition.

At this time, the cause of the crash is under investigation. Indio police urged anyone with further information to contact them at 760-391-4057.
