1 Dead in Bicycle Crash on Deschutes Road in Shasta County

 
SHASTA COUNTY, CA (June 21, 2024) — A woman died in a bicycle accident on Deschutes Road near Balls Ferry Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal bicycle accident happened around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, the 19-year-old bicyclist rode her bicycle from the west side of the road to the east side. Subsequently, her bike struck a southbound tractor-trailer on Deschutes Road.
 
Soon after, CHP officers and paramedics arrived and pronounced her dead. At this time, authorities do not know if alcohol or drugs factored into the cause.
