SAN DIEGO, CA (October 16, 2024) — A woman hit by a freight train lost her leg near Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego Monday night.
 
According to San Diego Police officers, the major injury accident happened near the San Diego Convention Center around 10:00 p.m. Police believe that a woman and several others who had just left a concert at the Rady Shell were crawling between the cars of the train.
 
However, a woman who tried maneuvering through the train fell off as the train began moving. Subsequently, the train ran over the woman leaving her with serious injuries, including a lost leg.
 
After the crash, paramedics took the victim to UC San Diego Medical Center for treatment.
 
Officers have no other information on what led to the accident, but they are investigating.
