William Castro Killed in Riverside Car Crash on Jurupa Avenue
RIVERSIDE, CA (March 11, 2022) — A man died in a car accident on Jurupa Avenue at Van Buren Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon.
The Riverside County Sheriff- Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 28-year-old William Castro of Riverside. A Coroner’s release indicated he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff later that day.
According to the Riverside Police Department, the fatal multi-car crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 36-year-old Banning man crashed his westbound Dodge Durango into a silver Honda Accord and blue Toyota Scion within the intersection. Per reports, the Dodge struck a southbound Honda first before hitting a southbound Scion.
After that, paramedics immediately began evaluating and treating the injured occupants, including the driver of the Honda – Castro – who was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.
However, despite having received life-saving efforts, Castro died shortly after.
As for the Dodge and Scion drivers, both suffered minor injuries. However, they did not require hospital care.
Officials did not specify who was at fault in the deadly crash. As a result, they are still working to determine if alcohol and or drug intoxication were considered contributing factors in the fatal accident.
