Chain-Reaction Crash on 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks Injures Two
THOUSAND OAKS, CA (July 9, 2024)– Two women were injured in a chain-reaction crash on 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks Tuesday afternoon on July 9.
The crash happened around 12:10 p.m. near Lakeview Canyon Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, five vehicles collided along the southbound highway. One of the vehicles struck another car, causing a chain-reaction.
One vehicle ran off the road north of Lakeview. Two other cars went into the south side of the road, where one of them struck a tree and the other overturned. One car ended up about 50-60 feet off the highway. The other two wound up 30-40 feet down the slope.
The impact of the crash also displaced a wasp nest. Three of the vehicles sustained major damage.
Fighfighters deployed foam to subdue wasps covering the area.
Two women from two separate vehicles were taken by ambulance to Los Robles Regional Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries
At this time, investigators are still trying to figure out the circumstances surrounding the crash.
