Two Killed, Joal Campbell Arrested in DUI Crash on Belmont Avenue [Fresno, CA]

Suspected DUI Driver Runs Through Red Light, Crashes into Another Vehicle on Belmont Avenue in Fresno Killing Two People

 
FRESNO, CA (January 7, 2025) – Two people were killed in a DUI crash in Fresno Monday evening on January 6.
 
The fatal crash happened around 7:18 p.m. at the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Palm Avenue. According to the Fresno Police Department, a small black truck was traveling westbound on Belmont Avenue without its headlights on. As it approached the red light, it failed to stop and ran through the intersection. It then crashed into a gold truck that was heading northbound on Palm Avenue.
 
The impact caused the gold truck to overturn. It eventually came to rest at a nearby gas station.
 
Both the driver and passenger of the gold truck were killed, one at the scene and the other at the hospital.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the black truck is in stable condition. He was identified as 36-year-old Joal Campbell.
 
Police arrested Campbell and booked him into the Fresno County Jail for driving under the influence.
 
The identities of the two victims were not immediately available.
 
An investigation is underway.
