DUI Driver Causes Fiery Crash on 210 Freeway in Upland Killing His Three Passengers
UPLAND, CA (November 19, 2024) – Three people were killed in a fiery DUI crash on 210 Freeway in Upland early Saturday morning on November 16.
The fatal crash happened around 2:19 a.m. just east of Base Line Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a semi truck was traveling eastbound in the far-right lane of the freeway when a Ford Taurus approached at a high speed.
The Taurus then crashed into the back of the semi.
After the crash, the 35-year-old male driver of the Taurus got out of the car before it was engulfed in flames.
Responding firefighters extinguished the blaze and found a man in the front passenger seat and two boys in the back seat. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Taurus suffered major injuries. Officers determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested him for DUI.
Meanwhile, the driver of the semi truck was unharmed.
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
