Car Rear-Ends Big Rig on 210 Freeway in Tujunga, Modesto Talamantes and Thomas Ornelaz Identified
TUJUNGA, CA (May 19, 2022) – Two people died in a big rig accident on 210 Freeway in the Tujunga area on Monday afternoon, May 16.
The accident happened just before 5:25 p.m. near La Tuna Canyon Road. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a dark-colored sedan slammed into the back of the big rig along the westbound lanes of the freeway.
Aerial coverage showed a sedan wedged under the back of a big rig.
51-year-old Modesto Talamantes and 40-year-old Thomas Ornelaz, both from San Fernando, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Meanwhile, the driver of the big rig was unharmed.
At this time, the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation. It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
