33-Year-Old Stockton Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on 5 Freeway near Charter Way
STOCKTON, CA (October 23, 2024) – Santino Estrada was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Stockton early Monday morning on October 21.
The fatal crash happened around 12:20 a.m. on 5 Freeway near Charter Way. According to the California Highway Patrol, Estrada was crossing all southbound lanes of the freeway. He then started crossing the northbound lanes when a car struck him.
After the crash, the driver of the car took off without rendering aid.
Estrada suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 33-year-old Stockton resident, according to the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The CHP said the suspect vehicle should have damage to its front bumper and hood, and its headlights may be broken. They asked anyone with information to contact Stockton CHP at 209-938-4800.
