MORGAN HILL, CA (November 18, 2024) — Robert Valderrama died in a multi-car accident on Monterey Road at Live Oak Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly vehicle crash happened around 1:55 p.m. Thursday. For an unknown reason, 35-year-old Robert Andrew Valderrama, of Morgan Hill, ran a red light while traveling southbound on Monterey Road. Subsequently, his Honda collided head-on with a Freightliner turning left onto Monterey Road.
Upon impact, the Honda plowed into a Jeep stopped at a red light, causing both cars to overturn, and debris from the crash struck a nearby Ford that was also waiting at the traffic light.
Minutes later, paramedics responded to the scene and rushed Valderrama to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
The 47-year-old Jeep driver — Leonel Orozco — suffered major injuries. Ricky Reyna — the 37-year-old Ford driver — and Daniel Arendt — the 45-year-old Freightliner driver — were unharmed.
Following the fatal incident, CHP officers investigated the details and ruled out DUI. If anyone has more information on this case, call CHP officer E. Valesquez at (408) 427-0700.
