Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Main Street near 15 Freeway [Lake Elsinore, CA]

35-Year-Old Fontana Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Main Street in Lake Elsinore

 
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (November 21, 2023) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Main Street in Lake Elsinore Sunday evening on November 19.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 10:00 p.m. near the southbound 15 Freeway on-ramp. According to the CHP, the pedestrian was walking within one of the on-ramp lanes when a Toyota Camry hybrid struck him.
 
The driver of the Camry did not stop after the crash.
 
Moments later, a 2017 Ford Explorer drove onto the ramp and ran over the pedestrian who was lying in the roadway. The driver, a 34-year-old Lake Elsinore resident, stopped and called 911.
 
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
 
Authorities only identified the victim as a 35-year-old Fontana man. His name was not immediately available.

Officers said the victim was wearing dark clothing and was in an unlit portion of the freeway on-ramp when he was struck.
