Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Car on Highway 99 in Los Molinos
LOS MOLINOS, CA (January 6, 2025) – A pedestrian was hit and killed on Highway 99 in Los Molinos Saturday morning on January 4.
The fatal accident happened around 5:45 a.m. at Marek Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, 42-year-old Jose Luis Vargas Moran of Anderson was driving a 2020 Toyota Corolla when he struck the pedestrian in unclear circumstances.
The pedestrian suffered significant injuries from the crash.
Tehama County Fire Department arrived and attempted saving the victim, who did not survive and died at the scene.
The identity of the of the victim was withheld at this time.
Meanwhile, Moran remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
According to the Red Bluff Police Department, alcohol and drugs are not suspected at this time. Further investigation is underway.
