Pedestrian Dies in Early Morning Crash on 10 Freeway in El Monte

 
EL MONTE, CA (November 25, 2024) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on 10 Freeway in El Monte early Saturday morning on November 23.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:12 a.m. at the Peck Road on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Hyundai struck the pedestrian along the eastbound freeway.
 
When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian lying on the roadway with fatal injuries. They pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
 
At this time, the victim’s identity was not immediately available.
 
It was unclear if the involved driver stayed after the crash.
 
Crews issued a SigAlert for the closure of the eastbound freeway at Peck Road for approximately two hours while the CHP investigated the fatality.
