18-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Forestville

 
FORESTVILLE, CA (August 31, 2023) – Oswaldo Mario-Rogelio Cardenas Jr. was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Forestville Sunday morning on August 27.
 
The fatal crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on River Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Cardenas Jr. was walking with two other people when a Buick Enclave struck him.
 
After the crash, driver briefly stopped before driving off.
 
Cardenas Jr. suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was 18 years old from Cloverdale.
 
The 2008 to 2013 Enclave was later spotted near the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit station on Airport Boulevard. The California Highway Patrol released footage of the suspected SUV on Sunday.
 
CHP officials described the suspect as a white woman, about 40 years old with a tattoo on her upper arm or shoulder. They urged anyone with information to call 707-588-1400.
 
A GoFundMe page has been created to help Cardenas’ family with funeral arrangements and raised more than $16,000 as of Wednesday afternoon.
