One Person Dead in Lakeside Wrong-Way Accident on 8 Freeway

 
LAKESIDE, CA (April 12, 2021) — One person died in a wrong-way crash on the 8 Freeway near Dunbar Lane Saturday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened around 2:00 a.m. For unknown reasons, a wrong-way vehicle was reportedly weaving in and out of traffic. Shortly after receiving the initial report, officials learned that the wrong-way vehicle had collided with several cars.
 
As a result of the crash, one person died. Paramedics responded to the scene soon after and transported the wrong-way driver to Sharp Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed information on the ultimate cause of the accident and the identification of the fatal victim. However, if anyone has more insight into this crash, please contact the CHP.
